Mercator-S company has introduced a new service for DinaCard users who can now get cash by making purchases in retail stores Mercator, Roda and iDEA, without visiting a bank or an ATM.
The “Get dinars” service enables DinaCard users to withdraw cash in the amount of up to RSD 5,000 when making a purchase, irrespective of the amount of the purchase. Owing to the wide network of Mercator, Roda and iDEA retail stores, particularly in places where the ATM network is less developed, this service will be available to a large number of consumers, who will have facilitated access to cash. At the same time, the “Get dinars” service enhances the competitiveness of merchants as it can attract more consumers in a retail store..
The service entails no additional costs for card users or other participants in the transaction, such as issuers, acquirers and merchants.
The kick-off event, i.e. the first transaction of cash withdrawal at Mercator Centre in Belgrade, was attended by NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tabaković and representatives of the company Mercator-S and UniCredit banka a.d.Beograd. The Governor pointed out that a lot has been done in the prior period and that the NBS will continue with its efforts to promote and develop cashless payments and step up the use of modern payment services. She also said that companies that recognise the importance of domestic products and the benefits those products bring to them and the economic system at large are the linchpin of further development of national payment instruments. “Those who use the DinaCard enjoy a number of benefits – it is cheaper, but also safer because the system is run by the NBS. Needless to say how important that is in these circumstances”, said Governor Tabaković.
